SHO, Inspector Rajesh Khajuria spoke with The Publish and told that a police team of Jhajjar Kotli apprehended three drug peddlers and seized 32.960 kg of poppy straw from their possession.
While on duty at naka Suketar, the police team stopped a truck bearing Police team of P/S Jhajjar Kotli during Naka duty at Suketar stopped one Truck bearing registration No. Plate JK14C-0289 for checking. On checking of the documents of the vehicle, it was found that driver has affixed fake Number plate of Jk14C-0289, though actual registration No. of the truck was PB06G-2487. for checking and during inspection of the documents, it was found that the driver had affixed a forged number plate on the vehicle, he said.
Finding something amiss the police searched the entire truck and found 32.960 kg of poppy straw like substance hidden in the truck concealed in a special designed cavity inside the vehicle.
The driver identified as Amanpreet Singh of Kandial Tehsil Batala, District Gurdaspur, along with others identified as Hira Singh of Singhwala, Gurdaspur and Lovepreet Balagan, Gurdaspur, Punjab were arrested on the spot. A case under NDPS Act was registered and investigation have been started.
